About Us

Go Angling Kerry  has been developed through the INTERREG IVB NWE COLLABOR8 project. South Kerry Development Partnership Ltd. is the lead partner on this project that aims to encourage tourist related businesses to work together to develop their businesses and region. The project has a total of nine partners, two each in Holland, Belgium, England and Wales.

It is through work on this project that this angling website has been developed. Our partner in the Devon/Cornwall area of England, The Westcountry Rivers Trust, have being doing much work in their region towards developing angling and increasing the amount of water available for anglers in their region. One of the ideas they have developed is the opening of a booking office that allows fishery owners to make water available to anglers who in turn can book this fishing through the office.

This website is the next step in terms of developing this idea to a stage that will allow anglers wishing to come to Kerry to be able to book their fishing on line in advance so as to help ensure they maximise their time fishing during their visit. In addition, the site will offer anglers up to the minute information as to water conditions, numbers of fish being caught etc. – information that can be inputted onto the site with the touch of a button by the fishery owners/managers. It will also help to identify the full range of angling opportunities that are available to anglers intending to come to Kerry, or indeed local anglers who wish to try out new water or enjoy a different experience. Given the extensive involvement and guidance provided by WRT in the development of this project, they will also be provided with the technology to enable them to roll out this on line booking engine in their region should they so wish – all part of the COLLABOR8 philosophy.

All of the angling facilities you see listed on this site are involved with the project through choice and each facility has full control over the information, costs of fishing and number of rods etc. that they choose to put on their stretch of water. Each facility pays a fee on each booking to cover the everyday running costs of the site and in addition to provide funding to enable the marketing of the site through relevant outlets. It is a not for profit arrangement that will see any funds generated in excess of the running costs being put back in to the development of angling in Kerry.

Currently this website is under the control of South Kerry Development Partnership Ltd. who maintain the overall editorial control on the site and who provide the administrative support to enable it to function. It is planned to  pass control of the site to a body made up of all of the angling groups involved in the future.
