Welcome to Kerry

Much of the wonderful game angling in Kerry is still undiscovered by visiting anglers and indeed many locally based anglers also do not take full advantage of the range of angling available in the County. From spate mountain rivers which depend on a flood of fresh water to ensure good fishing to the larger rivers and indeed an extensive network of lakes both large and small, the angler is spoilt for choice when seeking the chance to catch a wild Atlantic Salmon or indeed a freshly run Sea Trout. If trying to tempt the wily brown trout to take your bait is what you seek then you will not be disappointed either on your trip to Kerry.

All parts of the county can offer the angler the chance to engage their passion and if properly planned, an angler can get many different fishing experiences over the course of a couple of days in Kerry. From the thrill of seeking to land a freshly run Grilles on a single handed fly rod from a mountain stream running full with tumbling fresh water to seeing your fly disappear at the end of a full floating line cast from a double handed fly rod on a meandering slow river on a summers evening, Kerry angling gives you the chance to live your dream.

The wonderful thing about having such a broad range of angling opportunities in the county is that an angler can be sure of finding somewhere to cast a line no matter what the weather conditions prevailing at the time of their visit. If the spate rivers such as the Owenmore, Killarney Flesk or the Smearlagh River are not fishable, then the angler can always turn to rivers such as the Laune, Maine or Feale to seek their prey. Alternatively why not try your hand (or line) on one of the many lakes in Kerry such as the world renowned Lough Currane in Waterville or one of the lesser know upper lakes in that system. Indeed you could also visit the Carragh Lake or again some of the lesser known upper lakes in that system and if you happen to find yourself in the west of the county, the Owenmore system also has a number of lakes that fish in most conditions.

Be it spring, mid season or late season fishing you are looking for, you are sure to find something to thrill your senses in Kerry. Indeed you will also be able to avail of the services of an experienced guide should you so wish that can provide you with that extra piece of local knowledge that might just make the difference between catching a fish or not.

And for those of you novice or less experienced anglers visiting this site who might think that the Kerry angling experience is more for the more competent angler, think again. In fact given the range and quality of angling available in the county, Kerry is probably the best place you could come to in order to both improve your skills and gain experience while also having a very good chance of perhaps landing your first 'Springer' or hard fighting Peel or Grilles.

While this site currently focuses on Game Angling, we do plan to start to include the option to book your sea angling trip on line in the near future.
